The Role of Hopcalite Catalyst in Respiratory Safety

In modern industrial and emergency environments, respiratory protection equipment is becoming increasingly important. Whether it’s respirators used on industrial sites or escape masks used in sudden fire emergencies, respiratory safety is directly related to the health and life of the user.

What is carbon monoxide? Why is it dangerous?

Carbon monoxide (CO) is a colorless, odorless toxic gas that is widely present in environments with incomplete combustion. It can quickly combine with hemoglobin, blocking the transport of oxygen and posing serious health threats, even leading to poisoning in a short period of time.

In scenarios such as fire escape, tunnel work, and mine rescue, carbon monoxide is often one of the main hazardous gases. Therefore, respirators and escape masks must be equipped with effective carbon monoxide purification capabilities.

Working principle of Hopcalite Catalyst

Hopcalite Catalyst is a multi-component catalyst mainly composed of copper oxide and manganese dioxide. Its working principle is not adsorption, but catalytic oxidation: at ambient temperature, it can rapidly catalyze carbon monoxide into harmless carbon dioxide.

This reaction requires no external energy and can proceed rapidly under normal temperature and dry conditions, making it very suitable for gas treatment systems inside respirators.

Product features of DEAI CHEM Hopcalite Catalyst

DEAI CHEM offers various specifications of Hopcalite Catalyst, including:

10 × 16 mesh: Suitable for most respiratory devices, with uniform particles and moderate pressure drop.

12 × 20 mesh: Suitable for more compact filter structures.

1.2mm Granule: Enhanced surface area, ideal for scenarios requiring faster reaction rates.

These catalysts are dark brown to black in color, structurally stable, and can be flexibly selected based on device design.

Application scenarios

Industrial respirators: Ensure respiratory safety for workers in high-risk industries such as chemical, mining, and metal processing.

Escape masks: Used for emergency escape during fires in buildings, tunnels, and other places, effectively removing carbon monoxide in smoke.

Compressed air purification: Ensure clean air during gas storage and charging, preventing CO residue.

Cryogenic gas purification: Ensure gas quality in processes such as oxygen and nitrogen production.

DEAI CHEM has long been dedicated to the research and production of gas purification materials, with mature processes and strict quality control. Our Hopcalite Catalyst has been widely used in respiratory protection products both domestically and abroad, with stable performance and rapid reaction, and has been highly trusted by users.
